Celem książki jest zwiększenie świadomości, że jedzenie to nie tylko proces biologiczny, ale też nośnik emocji, regulator napięć i istotny element życia społecznego, a jego zaburzenia mają głęboki wpływ na zdrowie psychiczne człowieka. (…) W recenzowanej publikacji Autorka kieruje uwagę na objawy „słabo widoczne” konsekwentnie wykazując, że zaburzenia odżywiania, w tym również te niespełniające klasycznych kryteriów diagnostycznych, są realnym, klinicznie znaczącym problemem, który nie powinien być marginalizowany.
